Here We Go Again!

Greetings and Salutations from Watch Hill!

Spring has sprung and the weather is much improved over last spring (ok – it’s almost summer!)  We’re gearing up for another great season here in the village.  We have welcomed Maddy and John back with us this year – so be sure to stop in to say hi!  They both managed to keep their barista skills – they still have it!

If you are looking for something different to do while visiting Watch Hill – why not take a tour of Little Narragansett Bay aboard the Gansett Ferry!  We  took the sunset cruise this week and it was great fun!  Detailed  information at the Ocean House, or stop by for a cup of our delicious coffee and pick up a brochure!

We are open every day at 7:30am until noon (for now) – longer on nice weekend days. Once the place starts hopping and the weather improves we’ll be open from 7:30 am – 7:oopm.

Be sure to check out the Watch Hill Summer Concert Series that will be on Tuesday evenings at Watch Hill Park (by the gazebo).

and I promise that I will be better at blogging this year! :)

Merry Christmas! 2009

NOW THAT'S A CAPPUCCINO!

Greetings One and All!

Another Christmas has come and gone… Hope that everyone had a great day!
Imagine that this time last week, we had over 18″ of snow and today it is almost gone! It was great to have a real “White Christmas”!  Weather report has it that we’re in for more cold – get out that silk long underwear!

Please be sure to check our gallery page for more WHCC photos!  I still haven’t figured out how to present them correctly – but will be getting in touch with my website guru (www.dkdesignhawaii.com) to have a refresher course!  Such a great medium, but you have to work at it every day!  That being said, a New Year’s resolution of mine;  writing, adding photos and whatever else I am supposed to be doing with this site…. Stay tuned! :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving ~ 2009

BLACK FRIDAY!Well, another year has come and gone!  Wow, how the time flies!  Hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with good food, friends and family.  It was wonderful to see our faithful friends at the coffee shop this weekend.  My how the children have grown and it’s only been a few short months since we have seen them…. some are now walking and others have grown another foot!

Even though the weather left much to be desired, many braved the elements to stop by for a nice hot cup of our delicious coffee and to chat for a bit, catching up on how each others families are…

Of course everyone  heard about my buddy “Rocco” being flown to Hawaii to be with his mistress Dr. Crussana, stationed at Pearl Harbor.   Check out photos of Rocco (I decided he is worth having his own album in our gallery), before his departure to the Honolulu.  Last words from the Island on Thanksgiving were, ” Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  Sunny, 85`, 20ft seas and playing in the yard at the North Shore, 50 feet from the ocean!  Life is good out here ~ Aloha!

Thanks again to everyone who made a visit to us over the weekend!  Safe travels and we’ll see you again soon! :)

Jonnycake Donation Center    100_8317

Happy Spring!

We made it through a tough winter – the sand on the sidewalk was incredible. I have swept ours clean and we’re ready for another wonderful season in Watch Hill.

The flag is flying atop the Ocean House  – what a majestic sight!  And we’ve met some wonderful folks that are working on the Ocean House project.  They have become regular visitors to the coffee shop and they are conscientious and hard workers.

We have another visitor at the Watch Hill Coffee Company.  Jonny, from the Bradford Jonnycake Center of Westerly hopped on over to see what is happening in the village. Over the next few weeks, he will be accepting donations for the Jonnycake Center to help those in need.

Looking forward to seeing everyone return to Watch Hill.  Please stop by and say “hi”.
Bob Richins is back – wonderful to see him… He brought us some peanuts from Aunt Ruby’s in North Carolina.  We’re working to get these in our store soon!

Hold on to you hats!!!

Hoping that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a NEW YEAR!!!

Things sure are quiet in Watch Hill now!  The wind is really howling today – splashing salt water over into the Bay Street parking lot.  We are under a “high wind” alert until 1pm.  I took some video of the bay on my way to the coffee shop today.  I’ll see if I can figure out how to upload it - either on the blog or in the gallery.

We will be closed on weekends for January/February – though on a nice day you may find someone putting on the coffee or up for making a nice hot chocolate in the afternoon!

Gloomy Day in Watch Hill

Greetings…  Not the best of days (weather wise) in Watch Hill.  It is raining, damp, dreary and 39′.  We continue to work on renovations and changes within the store.  Custom Christmas gift baskets of coffee or tea, cookies and honey are available, as well as adorable stuffed animals decked in festive holiday bows.

The chess table is set up and the HD plasma TV is online (you should see a football game on this!).

Come on down to say hello and have a cup of joe!  The evergreen tree is lit (to the right of the gazebo).

What A Day!!!

My goodness what a fun filled day in Watch Hill.  After a few dark clouds blew through – the sun came out and it was a beautiful day.  A bit windy – but refreshing!  Thanks to everyone that participated and contributed to our 1st Cookie Sampler & Recipe Swap Day!  What an assortment we had – yum!!!

I was able to sneak away for a bit with my sister and a friend to take a ride on the horse drawn wagon – fun!!  The driver estimated we were going 3 mph :)

Be sure to stop down to Watch Hill to see the beautiful Christmas tree (to the right of the gazebo) that was lit this evening!  Now the sunsets will be twice as beautiful!

It was so great to see so many familiar faces coming back to Watch Hill to celebrate the Thanksgiving weekend.  Have a great rest of the weekend and safe travels!

Until next time…. :)

HAPPY DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING!

Watch Hill Coffee Company would like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  We are thankful for the support of everyone during our first year at 5 Bay Street, Watch Hill.

It has been a fun morning… lots of friends are back for the holiday weekend, stopping in for a cup of our great coffee and to say hello.

If you’re in the area, please stop by for a hot beverage, a cup of soup or stew and meet the newest member of the Watch Hill Coffee Company…. “he’s adorable” :)

We will be open for a few hours tomorrow morning (Thanksgiving Day) for coffee, pastries and newspapers.
